It happened in winter, when the enemy intended to attack Ukraine’s energy infrastructure.

Spain provided Ukraine with 6 air defense systems at the most difficult moment . This was stated by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky at a joint press conference with the leaders of the countries who arrived in Kiev for the “Support Ukraine” summit.

“I came to Spain when there were difficult times, in winter, and Pedro (Pedro Sanchez, Prime Minister of Spain, – ed.) made a decision. It was a decision that I really needed. We knew that they (we are talking about Russia, – ed.) would attack specific energy infrastructure of Ukraine, we really needed help at that moment,” Zelensky shared.

It is worth noting that Pedro Sanchez himself was also present at the press conference. The President of Ukraine thanked him for the assistance provided.

Zelensky said that back then in the winter it was necessary to quickly find 10 air defense systems:

“And Pedro gave me 6 of these systems. And it helped. Thank you for that.”

According to him, such actions show unity with the people of Ukraine.

“This means we can trust each other, we can count on each other,” said the Ukrainian president.

He thanked all countries that have helped and are helping Ukraine in the war against Russia for their support.

Aid to Ukraine from Spain

On February 24, Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez, speaking at the “Support Ukraine” summit in Kyiv with the participation of a number of foreign leaders, said that Spain was providing Ukraine with a new military aid package, the total amount of which is 1 billion euros.

He noted that Spain would continue to support Ukraine as long as it needed, providing military aid, equipment and hardware. He added that they would do so with even greater determination than they had in the past.

According to Sanchez, Spain will also participate in the restoration of Ukraine.
