The Spanish government has announced its intention to transfer another 20 Leopard 2A4 tanks to the Ukrainian Defense Forces. Previously, Madrid had already provided the Ukrainian army with 10 units of this military equipment.

Journalists suggested that the decision may be related to the recent visit of a delegation from the State Border Guard Service, which arrived in Spain for negotiations with representatives of industry and the State Ministry of Defense.
As stated in the material, the Interministerial Council for Trade and Control of Defense Materials and Dual-Use Technologies of Spain approved the transfer of 20 Leopard 2A4s to Ukraine.
However, it will take some time to repair the equipment. The tanks will be repaired at the Santa Barbara Sistemas plant in Alcala de Guadaira in Seville.
Spanish Trade Minister Xianu Mendes said that Ukraine needs weapons and military equipment to fight the Russian invasion.
“There is no doubt that Ukraine makes best use of them to protect its national security,” Mendez explained.
The Spanish government also published a list of military assistance provided to Ukraine from March 2022 to February 2014. In total, 61 arms deliveries were carried out worth 190 million euros.
