Spain will transfer to Ukraine the Lanza LTR-25 (Long-range Tactical Radar) tactical early detection radar from Indra Sistemas SA, its largest weapons manufacturer. According to the military portal “Military” , the Spanish Ministry of Defense signed a corresponding contract with the company.

The cost of this radar complex is estimated at 37 million euros.

It is explained that the Lanza LTR-25 is a mobile 3-coordinate radar station capable of operating “in difficult electronic warfare conditions.”

“The main advantage of the system is the ability to detect and track not only aircraft, but also small objects with a low reflective surface, including drones and cruise missiles,” the journalists emphasized.

At the same time, the radar is easily transported by C-130 aircraft or trucks, which allows for quick changes in position and avoidance of retaliatory strikes.

The detection range of air targets is over 450 km, and the combination of the radar with the general NATO air defense system allows the transmission of target coordinates to air defense calculations.

The radar operates in the L-band, and the antenna array itself is phased, which allows for high-quality scanning of the airspace.

The radar was developed by Indra (Lanza series), which is considered a pioneer in the creation of radar stations for ships, as well as ground and air surveillance systems.

The publication noted that Indra had already cooperated with Ukraine, supplying systems for civil aviation, but now it is about military equipment.

It is noted that the transfer of the radar is part of a broader military assistance package that also includes anti-aircraft missiles and armored vehicles. The use of the Lanza LTR-25 integrates the Ukrainian air defense system into a single network with modern Western weapons.

Defense agreement with Spain

As UNIAN reported, Ukraine plans to sign a defense agreement with Spanish arms manufacturers. Among them will be 13 technology companies, including Indra Sistemas SA, the country’s largest defense contractor. Spain also confirmed its participation in the PURL program, which provides for the purchase of the most priority weapons for Ukraine.
