A soldier of Ukrainian Armed Forces Yuri Kasyanov in the interview with Tatyana Zarovna talked about how simple the Iranian Shahid kamikaze drones are designed and why it is not profitable to use air defense equipment against them. Soldiers require personal optical anti-aircraft gunsight (UCOG) to shoot them down.
According to Kasyanov, the Shahed paradox is that no one in the world except Iranians has paid attention to technologies available at the grass-level in not-very-developed countries. But such technologies make it possible to create high-tech weapons. On the one hand, Shahed is quite a simple thing, but on the other, it is technologically complicated, the speaker argues. If there were no US-made GPS system and the secure GPS receivers used in them that are almost unaffected by electronic warfare, the Shaheds would not be so effective. Iranians and Russians actively use technologies of other countries to launch missiles and combat drones on the territory of Ukraine, Yuri emphasizes.
He tried to explain with a simple example how simple “Shahed” is to manage and produce.
“Any mobile phone is harder than Shahed.” Providedly speaking, if you connect parts – servo drives, motor, bomb in it to it via a USB port, then the smartphone would be able to control Shahed as well as the autopilot installed in it. And this is available to all. In principle, any terrorist can make a “Shahed” at home and direct him to the Capitol, the Bank or the Kremlin,” – Yuri said.
During the interview, he noted that modern air defense systems are not designed to shoot down Iranian drones. Kasyanov believes that the allies do not have enough systems that could 100% help Ukraine defend against these UAVs and ballistic missiles
“The Western allies did not expect a big war, and they did not put hundreds of Patriots.” To make Patriot in large numbers, you need to mass production – it’s a lot of work, it’s a long time. There are simply no such weapons and they are not in the quantities we need,” the speaker summarized.
However, not everything is so hopeless. Kasyanov recalled that effective anti-aircraft tactics were once used.
“There is an effective means of fighting the Shaheedis, who have bad visibility by radars, because they are small and fly slowly at a low altitude, so they can be shot down in the old-fashioned way, as in the Second World War.” For this, you need to have thousands of anti-aircraft weapons with the special scope(UCOG), spotlights that will light up the sky at night, “listen” to the sky … and to have a half-million army of Zenits that was in Britain during the Second World War to effectively bring down the Shaheds. Are we ready to go for this? “, – said Yuri Kasyanov.

Shaheds are third world crap; like the putinazi army. But also like the cockroaches, they do lots of damage. Same as orcs on a mission; if only 1 in 20 gets through, it’s still a good result for the putinazis.
Ukraine needs to develop their own “mopeds” and blitz putinazi cities with them.
