Slovakia faces punishment due to the Prime Minister’s decision to liquidate the Special Prosecutor’s Office, which investigated a number of corruption cases.

The EU may condemn Slovakia for the erosion of democratic norms, which will lead to the termination of funding for Bratislava.
Bloomberg writes about it . It is reported that the European Commission has already prepared a relevant decision. The reason for such a step is the liquidation by the Prime Minister of Slovakia, Robert Fico, of the Office of the Special Prosecutor, which investigated a number of corruption cases related to EU funds.
The process is now at an early stage and needs the approval of the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen. It should be noted that Slovakia is very dependent on investments from EU funds, so any delays will hit the economy of the Central European country, which is already suffering from a deficit in the state budget.
In total, the European Union can retain 12.8 billion euros. For this, they can use the procedure that provides for the protection of EU funds if they are at risk.
In addition, the European Commission is studying the possibility of withdrawing all or part of the 2.7 billion euros in subsidies allocated to Slovakia to combat the COVID-19 pandemic.

Russian influence is growing. Slovakia declares corruption ‘no crime’…………………
Sounds like a would-be dictator in waiting. I don’t believe the EU will do anything but I do believe in Ursula to do the right thing
I’m with you, Cap. If the EU does something, it’ll be equal to a slap on the wrist.
