The Russian Federation has significantly increased its bombing of Ukraine since Donald Trump took office as US president, ignoring his calls for peace. The most intense air attacks occurred in the summer of 2025.
This was reported by The Wall Street Journal. The publication noted that the increase in the number of strikes reflects the increase in the production of drones in the Russian Federation, as well as the openly declared determination of dictator Vladimir Putin to achieve the goals of the “Northern Front” by military means.
Russia wants to demonstrate that it has ways to escalate the war
During the large-scale attacks, hundreds of kamikaze drones filled the Ukrainian skies, some circling cities and swarming near their targets, while UAV simulators stymied Ukrainian air defenses. “While the interception rate remained relatively stable, more drones launched meant more damage,” the article said.
The WSJ also noticed a pattern: the aggressor often intensified shelling immediately after negotiations, meetings, or phone calls between representatives of the United States, Ukraine, and Russia.
“This is part of a larger cognitive war in which Russia seeks to sow discord in the United States and among our foreign partners by sending conflicting signals about their interest in a peace agreement,” explained Daniel Milley, an analyst at the American Institute for the Study of War.
For example, attacks intensified in early July after a phone call between Trump and Putin. Less than a week after that call and hours after the US president criticized the Kremlin leader for “talking a lot of nonsense,” the Russians launched what was then the largest combined attack ever , launching 728 drones and 13 missiles.
The preparations for the Trump-Putin face-to-face meeting in Alaska in mid-August brought a two-week lull in Ukraine. However, this period allowed the occupiers to stockpile strike drones for bombings, which resumed with greater force immediately after the summit.
The shelling of Kyiv in late August was the bloodiest in the capital since the full-scale invasion, killing 18 people and damaging the offices of the British Council and the European Union Delegation to Ukraine.
In another major escalation, Russian strikes damaged government buildings in central Kyiv.
“Russia, as before, wants to demonstrate to Ukraine and the West that it has the means to escalate this war,” said Fabian Hoffman, a missile expert at the University of Oslo.
Ukraine’s civilian population has borne the brunt of Russian airstrikes . Since Trump took office and the spring and summer bombings began, Ukrainians have endured the deadliest three months of shelling, according to data compiled by the U.S.-based nonprofit monitoring service Armed Conflict Location and Event Data.
“Russian strikes across the country are destroying homes, burying residents under rubble,” the WSJ said.
As OBOZ.UA previously wrote, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that enemy shelling must be responded to in a mirror manner – with long-range strikes on enemy territory . “We have our own long-range capabilities – we don’t have enough money. These are quick decisions that need to be made today. Tomorrow they will find other weapons,” he noted.
Mafia land can escalate all they want, but Ukraine is also showing that they can escalate too. There are no queues at Ukrainian gas stations.
The big mouthed felon who proclaimed to the world, over and over again, he would end the war in 24 hrs., has done absolutely nothing. His inaction and his virtual servitude to the bloodthirsty war criminal has only encouraged the latter, and has smeared human blood over Taco’s fat orange face.
Not once has he ever called this war, putlers war. Not once has he attacked putler, either verbally or with actions. I have no doubt he is 100% on the side of russia and China also.
