Edition No151 | 05-06-2025 – Trump is apparently annoyed with both Putin and Zelenskyy, according to aides, but his approbation and ire is especially reserved for Zelenskyy, who Trump is said to consider “a bad guy”, “who will lead the world to the brink of nuclear war.” This is a narrative likely planted in his head by Vladimir Putin, who has once again apparently exerted an extraordinary amount of influence over Trump’s words and action, after ‘another’ of their infamous phone calls.
This special hostility of Trump towards Zelenskyy likely has many origins. But envy of Ukrainian President’s clear leadership qualities and charisma, his authority among other world leaders, and refusal to abandon his truth for the expediency of sucking up to Trump play a role. We must not lose sight in the face of Trump’s comments, or the iniquitous both siding that some of the media falls into, that Ukraine is in face the defender, the victim and Russia the aggressor. Ukraine attacks military targets, sometimes the very equipment used to deliver death and destruction to Ukrainian cities, and Russians mostly choose to hit civilian targets. We had another example last night, as Russians are preceding to level the city of Kherson by means of 500kg aerial bombs, including the historic Kherson regional administration building, hit today at 5:30am.
