As Musienko explained, the targets of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation have recently become energy facilities, areas of civilian construction, and facilities of the defense industry.

Military expert Oleksandr Musienko noted that it is unlikely that the railway station was the target of  enemy shelling in Lviv . According to him, the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation could have other goals.

“It seems to me that the goal was actually to fly as close as possible to the center of Lviv in order to demonstrate the picture (we are talking about destruction for psychological pressure and a demonstration of power, – ed.),” the analyst noted in a Focus comment .

The expert recalled the combined attack of the Russian Armed Forces against Kyiv on September 2 and emphasized that at that time Russia also tried to make its way with missiles closer to the center of the capital, to the government quarter. According to his assessment, the aggressor country wants to show with destruction what it is capable of and how it can bypass Ukrainian air defense.

In general, as Musienko explained, the targets of the Russian Armed Forces have recently become energy facilities, areas of civilian construction, and facilities of the defense industry. The last choice is connected with the fact that the enemy is “baked” by the effectiveness of Ukrainian drones.

“Just now, one direction has been added – it’s educational institutions,” he clarified.

The analyst reported that during the shelling of Lviv, the “Dainzhal” flew “not quite accurately”, without hitting its target. However, in general, it has no problems with accuracy, unlike older models of Russian missiles.

Musienko confirmed that the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation are interested in as many victims as possible. Their missile strikes in Russia are perceived not only through the prism of practical consequences, but also through the prism of psychological terror. According to the expert, the enemy’s goal is to demoralize Ukrainians and weaken resistance.

He noted that Russian President Vladimir Putin is trying to put pressure on Ukraine because of its uncompromising nature. That is, due to the fact that Kyiv does not respond to hostile ultimatums and does not agree to unfavorable agreements imposed by the Kremlin.

“For them, it’s the other way around: the more civilian casualties, the better,” the analyst emphasized.

He is convinced that the factor of the death of a large number of civilians does not stop the aggressor country, and this is confirmed by the strikes on gas storage facilities, in particular on the night of March 24, and the attack on the Kyiv HPP on August 26. According to Musienko, there are no safeguards or barriers in Russia.

He explained that the Russian Armed Forces have been attacking Ukraine in violation of international law since the beginning of the full-scale war, but these terrorist attacks have certain “twists”.

“They are trying to link the current development to the fact that, apparently, Russia was still considering the scenario that they would succeed in some kind of successful offensive in Donetsk region, manage to break Ukrainian resistance and force Ukraine to sit down at the negotiating table on Russian terms sometime before the end of the year. But a lot of things did not go according to their plan, as has already happened more than once,” the expert clarified.

Attack on Lviv on September 4

Lviv was hit by Russian Kinjal missiles and other means on Wednesday night . More than 50 buildings in the city center were damaged, seven people died (including a mother and her three daughters), and 64 people were injured, the authorities of the Lviv region reported.
