Selected Comments from Telegraph readers about the demonic atrocity committed on civilians by Russia at Kramatorsk

April 8

Bear in mind that these are just regular readers, not Ukraine/Kremlin wonks like most us contributors here at UT. Their opinions are all the more gratifying to see.

Carl Franklin

“Just an observation, at yesterday’s UN meeting in New York the Russian delegation looked worried even frightened. Their speech was short, the usual flat denial ordered by the Kremlin. I could almost see in their faces they new what they were saying was rubbish and at some point there would be consequences for the narrative they spout to the world. If only some of them would turn on Putin, his world would begin to crumble.”

“Z for Zwastika. Z for Zombies.

The degradation of Russia and Russians is beyond words.”

Adam Hermitage

“Putin and his mob don’t belong in the civilised World, I’m looking forward to a mysterious drone strike on him some time soon

James Wesley

“Russian Military will now be forever known as child killing, rapist murderers.

Their total defeat in Ukraine is now a priority. No deals, no truces just their compete and total ahniliation.

Once Putin the Butcher is gone any dealing with Russia MUST require they hand over to the Hague ALL those involved in his murderous rampage including their foreign ministers and ALL those linked to Putin the Butcher for trial whereby if found guilty they face the ultimate penalty by military firing squad….as per Nuremburg.

The world needs reminding and so do other like minded despots.”

“Are the Russian military purposefully trying to become the most hated and reviled organisation in the planet?

Their own women, children and elders are not being pulverised or terrified, so how on earth can they justify their own atrocities to themselves? The Russian politicians that all support Putin doing this, are proving equally depraved. It leaves the distasteful conclusion that Russians, are at a base level, racist towards Ukrainians. They believe them less than themselves, that their lives do not matter.”

“Putin is pure brinkmanship and lies.

‘All wind and piss’ as me old granny would have said.

He will lose very heavily in a conventional war – and categorically there is no existential threat requiring nuclear weapons in that.

He will be put in his place within Russia’s established borders – and likely put in his grave by his own senior regime colleagues for this.”

J McIvor

“The Russian public are in thrall to Putin, who is following the same evil play book as every other insane dictator. It is up to West to stop him and his gang of blood crazed supporters before they finish off Ukraine and start on the rest of Europe.”

Free Man

“You know it has to be bad when even Serbia voted to eject Russia out of the UN Human Rights Commission. First time ever for one of the five permanent members to be ejected. Serbia!”

Anthony Dobbie

“Putin is a murderous tyrant.

This means he cannot afford to lose. His territorial ambitions mean that he cannot be allowed to win.

Given that the Russian military are content to commit genocide for their leader, I cannot imagine that they intend to overthrow Putin.

I think it is, therefore, inevitable that this conflict will now escalate.

Russia will lose a conventional war. Faced with that humiliation and his consequent Ceaușescu moment, Putin may decide to go nuclear – thus ensuring the destruction of, not just his enemies, but the Russia he claims to love.

What happens then is down to his chain of command. Most may refuse but, as in Dr Strangelove, it only takes one fanatic to succeed.

His generals must have considered this and, in the interests of self preservation, decided to live out their days in a concrete bunker. To hell with ordinary Russians and everyone else…”

Steve Willis

“The Russian army is doomed to failure. The Ukrainians are:-

Better trained

Better motivated

Have better weapons (yes they do! the Russians have only had an “amuse bouche” of the technology available)

Have Better ELINT, courtesy of Langley and Cheltenham

–Switchblades have YOUR name on them Ivan!”

Ian Metcalfe

“It is time for NATO to step in. The Russian war crimes are shocking to the core. The world cannot stand by and watch this happen. Actions not words are needed:

1. Sign up Ukraine to NATO, effective immediately.

2. Suspend all talks and negotiations with Russian’s, effective immediately.

3. Deploy troops to unoccupied areas of Ukraine, to ward off any further Russian advancement.

4. Invade Belarus, as part of a ‘special military operation’ to keep Ukraine safe.

5. Use drones, airstrikes and long-range missiles to take out the Russian artillery and warships.

Appeasement against tyranny does not work.”

David Sanftenberg

“It was heartening to hear a government minister on LBC News this morning stating that, yes, the UK gets it and we need to start acting unilaterally to give heavy weapons to Ukraine and bypass those in NATO still blocking real action. He also chastised other NATO members for being so cowardly and being in a peace-mindset instead of a cold-war mindset. That we need to start taking calculated risks again, just like we did then, and we can’t be cowed by Russian threats.”

Martin Mason

“The Russian animals should be thrown out of every organisation that represents civilised Nations. The end result has to be Ukraine becoming a Nato member.”

My comment was :

“Kramatorsk was attacked before by RuSSian vermin. Back in 2014. Nothing was done about it. This time it must be different.

Dear God this is too awful. So sorry for these people and their poor loved ones.
The creature that gave the orders for this massive hate crime and those who expedited it must be hunted down and methodically tortured to death.
There must now be a NFZ. No more prevarication.
There must now be allied boots on the ground. No more prevarication.
Every weaponry requested must now be provided x 2.
Every Russian in civilised countries must be rounded up, their cash and property confiscated and the proceeds sent to Ukraine.
All road, rail, air and sea links between RuSSia and the civilised world must be completely blocked.
All Russia blocked from SWIFT. No exceptions.
All trade and diplomatic relations cancelled until putler is dead.”

  1. I particularly liked the comments of Mr Ian Metcalfe; especially his point number 4.
    Also James Wesley’s was excellent.

  2. Mail online has the following headline:

“Twisted Russians wrote ‘for our children’ on missile used in attack on Ukrainian railway station refugees that killed at least 50 civilians – including five children – who were fleeing Putin’s atrocities.”

“The wreckage of a large missile was left lying on the grass outside the station. White Russian text was shown written down the side of its casing, which read: ‘For (our) Children’ – a revenge message from the pro-Moscow soldiers that launched it. It is believed to be the result of Russian propaganda brainwashing troops into believing Ukraine is carrying out atrocities in the east of the country….”
