German Federal Chancellor Olaf Scholz had to explain why Germany was not supplying Taurus missiles to Ukraine at the Munich Security Conference.

Details: Scholz was repeatedly asked why Germany does not supply Ukraine with long-range Taurus missiles after his speech.
“It’s a strange question because you know that Germany spends the most in Europe (on supplies to Ukraine),” the chancellor said, pointing out that Germany is the second-largest supplier of weapons to Ukraine after the United States.
After being asked about the reasons for the slowdown in the missile deliveries, he stressed that it was a matter of finding the right time to start supplying them. “It is important to make the right decisions at the right time. And we are making those decisions,” the chancellor explained.
Scholz avoided a direct answer to the question regarding the supply of Taurus missiles, though he hinted that there would be progress in what Germany is ready to supply to Ukraine. “Step by step, we continue to make the right decisions,” he said.
Background: Earlier, European Pravda reported that the government coalition was pressuring Scholz to deliver the Taurus missiles to Ukraine. On 24 January 2024, reports emerged that London offered Berlin a way to solve the Taurus dilemma for Ukraine.

“It is important to make the right decisions at the right time. And we are making those decisions,”
Germany have helped Ukraine with a lot of aid, no doubt, but the right time to deliver Taurus was yesterday, not in 6 months time.
Well said, Mr. Ofp, so true! The situation is desperate now, there’s no time to waste any longer. Scholz’ new excuse is making no sense. 😳
Oops, sorry, my mistake. Well said, Foccusser!
Their “step by step” approach is killing people.
Yet another lame excuse for further delaying that decision. When can the moment be more right than at this critical time when Ukraine is desperately short of weapons to stop major offensives that push the front to the breaking point? I don’t understand what Scholz is waiting for.
Scholtz is waiting in vain for his spine to stiffen up. It appears that he doesn’t want to be labeled the first to send long range missiles.
Maybe, but it would simply be longer range missiles. Quite similar Storm Shadow and Scalp aren’t “short range”, neither, after all.
These Taurus will decimate the orc logistics. This bridge would have been the first target if the US was fighting this war, but it appears Ukraine are being told to fight against a bigger enemy with both hands tied behind it’s back.
I’d say, “one hand”, but otherwise I agree with your view, Foccusser.
🙁
“We need right moment”
The right moment seems to be when the Bundeswehr must stop picking flowers and start digging trenches in front of Berlin, like in 1945.
Yeah, wait until everything’s lost and then it’s the right moment to finally use the “Wunderwaffe” Taurus and expect a miracle! Or so Scholz’ reasoning seems to go.
