Ukraine detains nine suspects of high treason (Photo:SBU)

The SBU neutralized a Russian FSB agent network preparing missile and drone strikes, with simultaneous detentions in Dnipro, Zaporizhzhya, Sumy, Donetsk, Odesa, and Kirovohrad oblasts, the SBU press service reported on Aug. 5.

Suspects acted separately, but cooperated with one FSB officer, who has already been identified, the SBU said.

Among the agents are an official of the Dnipro City Council and the head of a department in Yuzhne City Council of Odesa Oblast. They were establishing locations of air defense facilities and key power substations.

The group also included managers and a university student who recorded movement of Ukrainian army echelons toward the eastern front. Another traitor was an ex-officer of the disbanded police force who “reported” on the consequences of attack on one of Ukraine’s hydroelectric power plants.

Other agents collected information about positions of the Armed Forces near Kurakhove, Pokrovsk and Chasiv Yar in Donetsk Oblast.

According to the investigation, the defendants were “noticed” in Russia after their comments in chats on pro-Kremlin Telegram channels. During the searches, the detainees’ cell phones with evidence of intelligence and subversive activities were seized.

SBU announced detention of a 17-year-old FSB agent in Vinnytsia on July 31 who, according to investigators, tried to burn down one of the draft office administrative buildings.
