The next US president doesn’t want to wait for BRICS to finally get something right by abandoning the dollar.

Donald Trump has threatened to impose a 100 percent tariff on goods from the BRICS countries if they do not abandon their attempts to create an alternative to the dollar in international trade. The US President-elect stated this on the Truth Social social network .

According to him, the times are gone when the US passively watched BRICS attempts to create an alternative to the dollar.

“We demand a commitment from these countries not to create a new BRICS currency or support any other currency to replace the US Dollar. Otherwise, they will face 100% tariffs and will have to say goodbye to sales to the great US Economy,” Trump wrote.

He expressed doubt that the BRICS countries would be able to find an alternative to the dollar at all. However, Trump recommended that those countries that continue to look for alternatives “say goodbye to America.”

Russia Wants to Find Alternative to Dollar via BRICS

As UNIAN reported, in October Russia openly declared its intention to create a new system of international bank payments based on the BRICS bloc in order to become independent of the dollar. The Kremlin’s intention is to create a network of commercial banks through which international payments could be made in local currencies.

However, Bloomberg experts express doubt that the BRICS countries will be able to find an alternative to the dollar and euro in international trade in the foreseeable future. The BRICS countries have three options to bypass the dollar: trade for their own currencies, for cryptocurrencies, or for Chinese yuan. And all three options are extremely doubtful.
