It is stated that the measures of the United States and Europe were unable to block Moscow’s access to microelectronics.

Since the start of the large-scale war, Russia’s production of artillery shells, missiles and drones has increased dramatically. NBC News writes about this with reference to a new report from the Royal United Services Institute.

It is noted that Western sanctions have failed to undermine Russian weapons production, and Moscow has even managed to increase production of key weapons to spark a war against Ukraine.

Sanctions efforts are said to have been hampered by overly cautious decision-making by Western governments and delays in intelligence sharing among allies.

“In 2021, before the Russian invasion, Moscow produced 56 Kh-101 cruise missiles a year. By last year, according to the report, it produced 460 cruise missiles. Russia’s stockpile of Iskander ballistic missiles has also increased sharply, from about 50 before the invasion to 180, although Russia launched a large number of missiles on the battlefield,” the publication says.

It is stated that US and European measures have failed to block Moscow’s access to microelectronics, on which Russia depends for the production of missiles and drones. In particular, the Russian Federation has sufficient stocks of antennas produced by an Irish company, which are used in planning kits for bombs.

“The expansion of Russian arms production clearly demonstrates that thousands of Western sanctions have been ineffective. In sum, despite the diligent efforts of many government officials, backed by political will to undermine Russia’s military-industrial production, little has been achieved,” the report notes.

The report’s authors argue that the United States and its allies could still cut off supplies or prohibitively raise the cost of electronic components, machine tools and raw materials needed to produce Russian weapons.

Let us recall that it was previously reported that Russia produces up to 90 missiles of various types per month , and the number of Iskander missiles has especially increased.

“In general, there is now data that suggests that Russia produces 85-90 missiles of various types per month. This includes Daggers and Iskanders,” said Alexander Musienko, head of the Center for Military Legal Research.
