The plant’s operations were stopped due to the impossibility of shipping petroleum products.
Russia’s Ryazan oil refinery has suspended operations after a Ukrainian drone attack late last week, Reuters reported , citing two industry sources.
It is noted that an oil storage facility was on fire at the plant. Among the damaged equipment was a railway overpass and a hydro-treatment unit, which is used to remove impurities from petroleum products.

“Railway loading equipment was damaged. Railroad shipments are not being carried out, oil refining has been stopped,” one of the sources told journalists.
Another source noted that shipments were suspended on Friday. This source also confirmed that the plant’s operations were stopped due to the impossibility of shipping petroleum products.
Rosneft, which owns the plant hit by the drones, did not respond to a request for comment.
It is known that in 2024, the Ryazan oil refinery processed 13.1 million metric tons (262,000 barrels per day), or almost 5% of the total oil refining volume in Russia. According to the agency’s source, it produced 2.2 million tons of gasoline, 3.4 million tons of diesel fuel, 4.3 million tons of fuel oil and 1 million tons of aviation fuel.

On the night of January 26, the Ukrainian Armed Forces and the Main Intelligence Directorate of Unmanned Systems struck the facilities of the Ryazan Oil Refinery Company again. Explosions and a fire were recorded in the area of the specified target.
