The British Ministry of Defense estimates that Russian casualties on the front in Ukraine will exceed one million by next month. Despite this, Russian dictator Putin is still rejecting ceasefire proposals from Ukraine, the United States, and Europe.
This was stated by British Defense Minister John Healy at a press conference following the meeting in Rome of the defense ministers of the E5 countries (Poland, Italy, Germany, France, Great Britain). He emphasized that Putin once again showed his true colors by not showing up for the talks between the delegations of Ukraine and the Russian Federation in Istanbul.
“He said he wanted peace, but rejected the ceasefire that Ukraine was ready to accept. He says he wants to end the fighting, but he is still striking and killing civilians. Today he offered talks, but he did not show up. He could end this war today,” the British minister emphasized.
Gili added that there is no point in talking about any “victory” for Putin in Ukraine – from month to month, the Russians are capturing less and less territory and suffering heavy losses.
“And according to our intelligence, next month the number of Russian casualties in this war will reach one million,” the head of the British department emphasized.
He noted that during the meeting, the ministers focused primarily on helping Ukraine. The task of the E5 defense ministers today is “not to jeopardize peace by forgetting about war.”
“Therefore, we are obliged to guarantee Ukraine the strongest possible position, regardless of whether Ukrainians are on the battlefield or talking at the negotiating table,” the British Defense Minister emphasized.
As OBOZ.UA reported, the day before, Gili said that the Russian Federation will not be able to win the war against Ukraine, so Putin has no choice but to sit down at the negotiating table and cease fire . Ukraine’s allies should increase pressure on the Kremlin leader to agree to this.
