More than 137,000 Yandex searches asking when Russia’s so-called “special military operation” in Ukraine would end were recorded between June 22 and June 28, the highest weekly total since the full-scale invasion, independent outlet Mozhem Obyasnit reported on June 30.

At the same time, searches for bomb shelters are increasing, particularly in Moscow Oblast.

According to Yandex Wordstat data for Moscow and surrounding Oblast, the term “bomb shelters” was searched 33,700 times in May 2026. That compares with 10,500 searches in January 2025 and 9,100 in February 2025, meaning interest in the topic has more than tripled over the past year and a half.

Interest in drones has grown even more sharply. Residents of Moscow Oblast searched for the term “UAV” 785,000 times in May 2026, compared with 163,000 in January 2025 and 130,000 in February 2025. The number of searches has increased nearly fivefold over the same period.

June 18 attack on Moscow

On June 18, Ukrainian drones carried out a large-scale attack on Moscow and surrounding Oblast. The strikes and Russian air defense activity triggered multiple fires, including at the Moscow Oil Refinery, which supplied about 35% of the Russian capital’s fuel needs.

The attack involved long-range drones, including the FP-1, Liutyi, Beaver, Behemoth, Morok and Bars models.

Ukraine’s General Staff said the strike damaged the refinery’s primary crude oil processing unit, three RVS-10000 storage tanks and one RVS-30000 storage tank. The facility suspended oil processing indefinitely.

The June 18 attack was one of Ukraine’s most successful long-range drone operations, particularly in terms of penetrating Russia’s air defense network.

Russian officials claimed that more than 190 Ukrainian drones were shot down over Moscow. Russian state media reported that, based on the Defense Ministry’s daily tally of intercepted drones, Ukraine launched its largest single-night drone attack of the war, surpassing its previous record.

On June 25, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy approved a “40-day pressure campaign against the aggressor state” aimed at forcing Russia to end the war.

Overnight into June 26, drones targeted Moscow and surrounding Oblast, with explosions reported across the area. Other Russian oblasts and Russian-occupied Crimea also came under attack. Russian state news agency TASS and other Russian media outlets reported that 660 drones were involved, describing it as the largest drone attack since the start of the war.

  1. Do these idiots really expect to find the answer to this? It’s disgusting that they didn’t want to know as their criminal military was making the Ukrainians freeze during the brutal winter.

  2. “At the same time, searches for bomb shelters are increasing, particularly in Moscow Oblast.”

Why are they searching for things that don’t exist? You can all die, putler wouldn’t lose any sleep over it.
