The event is being organized for the first time in the last few years.

In the US capital, Washington, on May 3, the Russians plan to hold a propaganda march of the “Immortal Regiment”, timed to the 80th anniversary of the end of the German-Soviet war.
The event is being organized for the first time in the last few years. Ukrinform writes this with reference to a booklet obtained, which the organizers of the event distributed among Russian-speaking groups in the United States.
The event is scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m. local time in Lafayette Square, next to the White House complex, before proceeding down Pennsylvania Avenue to the World War II Memorial in downtown Washington.
“We will march with an orchestra, songs and portraits of our heroes,” states the booklet, which the organizers decorated with Soviet symbols and a “St. George ribbon.”
A “small concert” is also planned near the World War II memorial in downtown Washington.
Citing sources familiar with the plans, the publication writes that the organizers have already received permission from the municipal authorities to hold the event. At the same time, the press service of the Metropolitan Police Department in Washington, D.C., did not immediately respond to Ukrinform’s request for information.
“Immortal Regiment” campaign in Russia
As UNIAN previously reported, amid a full-scale war against Ukraine, Russia canceled the Immortal Regiment propaganda campaigns on its territory. Instead, an online campaign was organized there in 2023. Russians were invited to share photos of their relatives who were veterans of the German-Soviet war on social networks, place them on clothes, cars, and so on.
Russia also held a similar event in the Democratic Republic of Congo in 2023. In a video shown by propagandists, participants marched with posters and a Russian flag, singing the popular Soviet war song “Katyusha.”

“German-Soviet war”
Ukrinform should be ashamed of themselves for passing along ruSSian propaganda. Only ruSSians call WW2 that.
