The ombudsman notes that such demonstrative executions are aimed at demoralizing Ukrainian society.

Russian captors demonstratively killed a Ukrainian prisoner of war with a sword. The Ukrainian Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights Dmitry Lubinets wrote about the new atrocity of the Russians in Telegram.

“Another war crime – Russians executed an unarmed Ukrainian prisoner of war with a sword, his hands bandaged with tape. The level of barbarity and bloodthirstiness is incomprehensible,” the ombudsman noted.

Lubinets stressed that such actions are a gross violation of the Geneva Convention relative to the Treatment of Prisoners of War. He said that he had sent letters to international organizations, the ICRC and the UN, so that they would record yet another violation of human rights by Russia.Video of the day

“I would like to emphasize separately that such demonstrative executions are aimed at demoralizing Ukrainian society. However, seeing such actions, we must become even more decisive in the fight against the aggressor,” Lubinets wrote.

According to reports online, Russians executed a Ukrainian prisoner with a sword in Novogrodovka, Donetsk Oblast. With his hands bandaged, they stuck a sword with the inscription “For Kursk” into his chest.
