Russian troops continue intensified offensive operations in the Hulyaipol direction. Some of the Russian units involved in the fighting in Zaporizhia are trying to isolate Hulyaipol from the northeast in order to help other invaders break through to the city from the east.
Of particular interest to the occupiers is the key artery that supplies Hulyaipol – highway R 85. The Institute for the Study of War (ISW) reported on the situation .
What is happening in the Hulyaipil direction?
Analysts noted that the situation in the Hulyaipil direction remains very serious, as Russian troops continue to advance and conduct intensified offensive operations.
According to ISW, the Russians are currently trying to isolate Hulyaipole from the northeast. If they succeed, it will make it easier for the group that is rushing to the city from the east.
“Russian troops continue to advance towards Hulyaipol and the T-0401 Pokrovske-Hulyaipol highway (from 2024 – R-85. – Ed.), which is one of the main Ukrainian supply routes to Hulyaipol. Geolocation videos published on November 15 and 16 indicate that Russian troops recently captured Rivnepillya (northeast of Hulyaipol) and advanced east of Zatyshsha (east of Hulyaipol) along the O-080618 Hulyaipol-Malynivka highway,” the material states.
The capture of Rivnepil’ was also announced by the Russian Ministry of Defense: they attributed the leading role in the occupation of this settlement to units of the Russian 114th Motorized Rifle Regiment from the 127th Motorized Rifle Division of the 5th Combined Arms Army of the Eastern Military District of the Russian Armed Forces.
Currently, according to ISW, the occupiers northeast of Hulyaipol are approximately eight kilometers from the city, and in the east they have approached it by four kilometers.
Analysts added that the spokesman for the Southern Defense Forces of Ukraine, Colonel Vladislav Voloshyn, admitted on November 15 that recent Russian offensives threaten to cut off Hulyaipole from logistics. In particular, they seek to establish control over the road leading from Pokrovsk, Dnipropetrovsk region, to Hulyaipole itself (this refers to the already mentioned R-85 ).
Also, media outlets, citing sources in Ukrainian military intelligence, wrote that Russian infiltration groups in the direction of Hulyaipol can now infiltrate Ukrainian defenses up to five kilometers behind the front line.
Units of the 38th Motorized Rifle Brigade of Russia (part of the 35th Combined Arms Army of the Eastern Military District of the Russian Armed Forces and deployed in the Amur Region. – Ed.) are likely operating near Zeleny Gay (east of Gulyaipol), which confirms that the Russian military command has redeployed units of the 38th Motorized Rifle Brigade from positions south of Gulyaipol to strengthen efforts east of the city.
Earlier, OBOZ.UA reported that the invaders recently shot Ukrainian soldiers in Zaporizhia. This grave war crime was committed near the settlement of Zatyshshya. According to various sources, the invaders could have executed from two to five unarmed defenders of Ukraine.
