The number of injured and killed during Russia’s attack on the city of Sumy on the morning of April 13 is rising.
“Emergency services continue to work on site,” said Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko.
Updated . As of 1:00 p.m., it is known that 24 people, including 1 child, were killed in two Russian missile strikes on the city. 84 people were injured, including 7 children, the State Emergency Service of Ukraine reported .
As noted by the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, Andriy Yermak, the occupiers fired rockets with cluster munitions at Sumy:
“The Russians are doing this to kill as many civilians as possible. The strike on the city of Sumy is a deliberate shelling of civilians.”

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiga stated that “such an attack on a major Christian holiday is absolute evil”:
“On the morning of Palm Sunday, as believers go to church to celebrate the Lord’s entry into Jerusalem, Russia carried out a horrific attack on a residential area of the city of Sumy. Many civilians were killed and injured.”
According to him, Ukraine is already sharing detailed information about this war crime with all its partners and international institutions:
“We call on all capitals and headquarters to respond decisively… We call on partners to provide Ukraine with additional air defense assets and increase pressure on Moscow.”
