A Russian serviceman was killed in a car bombing in Syria, Interfax reports, citing a message from the Ministry of Defense.
The explosion occurred in the Syrian province of Homs on September 9, when the Russian military police conducted a reconnaissance of the route of the humanitarian convoy.
The car was blown up by an explosive device installed on the side of the road. The Russian who was in the car was seriously injured, from which he died, despite the medical assistance provided.
In March 2021, Andrei Krasov, First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Defense Committee , said that in connection with the military operation in Syria, which Russia began in 2015, 112 Russian servicemen were killed.
Syria also killed dozens of Russians, who, according to unconfirmed reports, were mercenaries who fought on the side of the Syrian government army. There is no official data on the number of such deaths.
