Service centers in Russia that repair smartphones, laptops and other electronics, due to a shortage of components, are forced to dismantle new gadgets for spare parts and use parts from used devices. Kommersant writes about this, citing sources.
“We try to compensate for those parts that cannot be obtained from abroad by dismantling other products, the so-called donors,” Dmitry Kravchenko, CEO of Acer in Russia, confirmed to the publication.
He added that earlier about 90% of repairs were carried out within five working days, but now these terms can become longer depending on the availability of components.
According to Kommersant’s interlocutors, the repair situation is also complicated by the fact that Russia has begun selling equipment imported as part of parallel imports. In this case, the manufacturer does not bear the costs of service maintenance – they are transferred to the distributors.
Warranty periods may also be extended. Electronics intended for parallel import to Russia is registered in one of the EAEU countries (for example, in Kazakhstan or Kyrgyzstan), and warranty service must be carried out in these countries.
According to Profi, the online service for finding specialists, the price of repairing smartphones in the second quarter has already increased by 11% year-on-year and by 5% compared to the first quarter, laptops – by 6% in both cases.BUSINESSMAN
The day before, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a law on the legalization of parallel imports, that is, the import of goods without the permission of the copyright holder.
The law applies only to certain categories of goods, which the Ministry of Industry and Trade approved in May. This list includes some brands (for example, Bentley, Apple, Siemens, Dyson), as well as product categories (for example, railway locomotives, boats, seedlings).
Electronics imported to Russia through parallel imports have already begun to be sold on large online platforms, including Ozon.

Good. A few more months of this and the Soviet Union is a few more steps closer.
