Russian schools will ban access via Wi-Fi to “negative” content, said the Minister of Education of the Russian Federation Sergei Kravtsov on the air of the Vesti program on the Russia 1 TV channel.
Wi-Fi, which will be at the school, is just configured to access verified content. Thus, we will protect children from that negative information, which, unfortunately, is used, let’s say, for unscrupulous purposes. This is absolutely unacceptable.
The minister did not specify what information in schools will be limited to access via Wi-Fi.
By the end of the year, according to Kravtsov, all schools in cities plan to connect to the Internet at a speed of at least 100 megabits per second, and schools in villages and towns – 50 megabits per second.
“Yes, there will be very remote schools where, perhaps, satellite and other technologies will be used,” the minister added.
On March 3, Russian President Vladimir Putin urged Interior Ministry officials to look more closely for people who use the Internet to promote “completely inappropriate content,” such as child pornography and prostitution, and to drive teenagers to commit suicide.
On March 4, Vladimir Putin also raised this topic, stating that the Internet must obey the “moral laws of society”, otherwise this society “will be destroyed from the inside.”
