The Russian Su-24MR aircraft , which is a frontline reconnaissance aircraft, flew into Poland. This was reported by the Operational Command of the Polish Armed Forces.

The incident occurred on February 11, at 14:09 in the eastern part of the Gulf of Gdansk. It is noted that the Russian aircraft violated Polish airspace to a maximum depth of 6.5 km and was in it for 1 minute and 12 seconds.

The plane was flying from the Kaliningrad region of the Russian Federation. The Russians said the reason for the violation of Polish airspace was a failure of the navigation system.

“The flight of the aircraft was monitored by radar systems of the Polish Armed Forces. The flight route was immediately changed after the intervention of the navigator of the Russian Armed Forces. Polish air surveillance services maintained contact with the Russian side, which confirmed the fact of violation of Polish airspace and reported that it occurred due to the failure of the navigation system of the Su-24MR aircraft,” the statement said.
