Russian Orsk is going under water: a new dam break has been recorded

A repeated dam break occurred in the Russian city of Orsk, Orenburg region. As a result, the flood zone has expanded significantly.

The mayor of Orsk, Vasily Kozupitsa, said that a new breakthrough was recorded in the area of ​​Borisoglebskaya Street.  

“After another dam break in Orsk, the villages of Stroiteley, Nikel, Lesotorgovy and Borisoglebskaya Street are under threat of flooding,” writes the Russian propaganda resource TASS in its Telegram channel.

At the same time, the regional government announced that 153 settlements in the Orenburg region were cut off by flood waters. The situation is expected to worsen.

It is noted that 50 rescuers were sent to Orsk. At the same time, more than 4.4 thousand people were evacuated due to the flood, more than 6 thousand residential buildings were flooded.

Dam break in Orsk – latest news

On April 5, a dam broke in Orsk, Orenburg region of the Russian Federation , and local authorities began an emergency evacuation of the population. Due to the flooding, a state of emergency was declared in the region, but only residents of certain streets were evacuated.

On the morning of April 6, it became known that  at least two people had died as a result of a dam break , and rescuers were checking information about a third possible victim of the water. About 2,000 houses in 95 settlements were flooded.
