Russian occupiers have caused $1 trillion in damage to Ukraine since 2014, – OP

The President’s Office emphasized that the real amount of losses is growing every day.

Since the beginning of the Russian aggression against Ukraine, which began in 2014, the occupiers have caused losses to our state of up to one trillion dollars. This was stated by Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Iryna Mudra, Ukrinform reports .

“We know that today the amount of losses caused by Russia in the last three years of the war alone is already estimated at $589 billion,” she noted.

Mudra emphasized that due to the daily strikes by the enemy army on Ukrainian territory, the real amount of damage is increasing every day. 

“These figures are one of the more conservative estimates. If we take the beginning of the war in 2014, this amount could reach $1 trillion, including tens of thousands of lives lost,” the official emphasized.

Economy of Ukraine – latest news

Earlier it became known that the Ukrainian economy  grew by more than 1% in the first months of the year . According to the Ministry of Economy, in February 2025, Ukraine’s GDP grew by 0.7%, and in the first two months of the year – by 1.1%.

“At the same time, we are currently even slightly above our forecast for the 1st quarter. The main growth factors remain the construction industry, the processing industry, and domestic trade,” added First Deputy Minister of Economy of Ukraine Oleksiy Sobolev.

Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal also announced that  Ukraine will receive €3.5 billion from the EU . According to him, the funds will be directed to priority and important budget expenditures for people.
