Russian MiG-31K fighter caught fire at an airfield in Belarus: what is known

On Sunday, December 25, a Russian fighter-interceptor  MiG-31K , which is capable of launching Kh-47M Kinzhal hypersonic aeroballistic missiles, caught fire at the Machulishchi airfield in Belarus .

The monitoring group ” Belarusian Gayun ” has the relevant information. It is noted that the fighter is disabled and will not be able to fly in the near future.

It is worth noting that on December 25, “Belarusian Guyun” reported on two takeoffs of Russian MiG-31K in Machulishchi. In this regard , a large-scale air alert was announced in Ukraine .

Fighter-interceptor MiG-31 – general information

The MiG-31 is a Soviet two-seat supersonic high-altitude all-weather long-range fighter-interceptor. This is the first Soviet combat aircraft of the fourth generation.

The fighter was designed to intercept and destroy air targets at extremely low, medium and high altitudes, day and night, in simple and adverse weather conditions.

A group of four MiG-31 aircraft is capable of controlling airspace up to 1,100 kilometers long.

Kh-47M “Kinzhal” is a hypersonic aircraft missile capable of hitting both stationary targets and surface ships: aircraft carriers, cruisers, destroyers and frigates.

According to open sources, after being dropped, it flies at hypersonic speed, exceeding the speed of sound by 10 times.

  1. Note to Ukraine, use 300 million and purchase 50,000 Switchback Drones and kick Russia out of Ukraine by summer 2024. Those orcs hiding in trenches will be good target practice.
