Russian Foreign Ministry will return the icon from Luhansk, which was presented to Sergey Lavrov during his visit to Bosnia and Herzegovina

The 18th century icon from Luhansk, which was presented to Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov by the chairman of the Presidium of Bosnia and Herzegovina Milorad Dodik, will be returned back. TASS was told about this by the Russian Foreign Ministry.

The icon will be returned to donors for further clarification of its history through Interpol.

Dodik presented Lavrov with a gilded 18th century icon found in Luhansk during the visit of the Russian minister to Bosnia and Herzegovina on December 14. On the reverse side of the icon was the seal “URSR. People’s Committee for Education. Ukrnauka “.

The Ukrainian Embassy in Bosnia and Herzegovina sent a note to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the republic with a demand to explain how the icon came to Dodik. The prosecutor’s office of Bosnia and Herzegovina has begun checking the origin of the relic.

“Present time”, referring to the Serbian media, writes that several dozen residents of the Republika Srpska (it is Dodik who represents it on the Presidium of Bosnia and Herzegovina) participated in the conflict in Donbass on the side of the separatists.

During Sergei Lavrov’s visit to Bosnia and Herzegovina, the chairmen of the Presidium from Croats and Bosnian Muslims Zeljko Komšić and Shefik Jaferovic refused to meet with him . According to them, they considered it disrespectful that the flag of Bosnia and Herzegovina was not present at the meeting between Lavrov and Milorad Dodik. They also disliked  Lavrov’s statements about the  Dayton Accords .

  1. STAY TUNED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! RUSSIA WILL RETURN SOMETHING UKRAINIAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!NOT TO UKRAINE OFF COURSE, BUT ITS A START!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • Not voluntarily. It is illegal to take one of these icons out of Ukraine. I wanted to bring ours back to the USA and found out about that law. This is a wedding icon so it belongs to someone….IN UKRAINE!

    • I am, likewise absolutely astounded, however won’t believe it until it actually happens.

  2. IF it comes to pass and the item is indeed returned to its rightful owners, then this is merely for public relations. “See, we are not thieves. We are honest people.”
If I were to steal someone’s car and occupy a room in his house, what is a trinket that I hand over to the owner? That’s right, it’s ничего.
