The claims of the German authorities about the poisoning of Alexei Navalny with poison from the Novichok group are not supported by facts. This was stated by the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Interfax reports.

The Russian Foreign Ministry called on Germany to exchange information about what happened with Navalny, noting that Berlin “neglects the existing mechanisms of cooperation.” The Russian Foreign Ministry recalled that the German Justice Ministry has not yet responded to the request of the Russian Prosecutor General’s Office about the situation with Navalny.

The Russian Foreign Ministry admitted that with the help of statements about Navalny, Berlin is trying to substantiate “some prearranged ‘response measures’ that have already been announced earlier.”

The German government announced on September 2 that Navalny had been poisoned in Russia with a nerve agent similar in composition to Novichok. This conclusion was made on the basis of analyzes carried out at the request of the Charite clinic, where Navalny is being treated, in the Bundeswehr laboratory.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel called Navalny a victim of a crime and said the Russian government must answer “serious questions.” The chancellor also added that Germany will discuss with its NATO and EU partners a joint response to the poisoning of Navalny.

Earlier, Germany and other EU countries demanded that Russia conduct an investigation into the poisoning of Navalny. The Russian Prosecutor General’s Office sent a request to the German side about the state of health of the politician, but at the same time stated that there were no grounds for a criminal case yet.
