Russian Foreign Ministry calls new draft of US sanctions against Russia “nervous breakdown”

Lavrov stressed that “such steps do no honor”

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that the new bill on US sanctions against Russia is just a nervous breakdown, Interfax reports.

“I think it’s a nervous breakdown. It is in the endless assertion of their own greatness that people have reached a psychological point that is difficult to explain. Not the first year in Congress I am amazed to read all these initiatives, created by adults, serious politicians. And such steps do no honor,” Lavrov said.

As it was reported, Russian presidential Spokesperson Dmitry Peskov says that the imposition of sanctions on Russian President Vladimir Putin would be a step too far, comparable to the rupture of relations.

The day before, it was reported that Democrats in the US Senate have prepared a new package of sanctions against the Russian Federation in case of invasion of Ukraine. The new law will impose broad sanctions on Russia’s military and government officials, including Putin.
