Russian drone attack on Poland revealed serious problems in NATO, expert says

Currently, Europe is not ready to repel a large number of air targets, as Ukraine does, believes Valeriy Yakovenko.

The Europeans’ raising of fighter jets to repel a small number of Russian drones during an attack on Poland is an economically unjustified step, said DroneUA co-founder and managing partner Valeriy Yakovenko.

“If NATO ever faces the need to shoot down not a few dozen such drones, but several hundred, as Ukraine does every night, any stocks of military equipment, including their resource, could run out very quickly,” Yakovenko said on Kyiv24 .

The expert added that Ukraine is the only country in the world that has a modular air defense system, which allows for the appropriate use of all available air defense means to neutralize air targets.

“It is economically inexpedient to spend air-to-air missiles or F-35 fighter flight hours against such targets. And if this escalates to a potential threat in the form of hundreds of drones, it will not work for long. Supplies will run out. And even those missiles that are used – they are not produced in sufficient quantities to maintain defense every night. And Ukraine does this,” Yakovenko added.
