Russian dictator Vladimir Putin has declared an Easter truce in the war against Ukraine.

All hostilities will cease from 6:00 p.m. on April 19 to 12:00 a.m. on April 21, the Kremlin announced.

“Guided by humanitarian considerations, today from 6 p.m. to midnight Sunday to Monday, the Russian side declares an Easter truce. I order a cessation of all hostilities for this period,” the Kremlin said in a statement.

They added that they expect the same step from Ukraine.

“At the same time, our troops must be ready to repel possible ceasefire violations and provocations by the enemy, any of its aggressive actions,” the message emphasizes.

War in Ukraine: news

Today it became known that a special blackout regime was introduced in the Kherson region for Easter . As the spokesman for the Kherson Regional State Administration, Oleksandr Tolokonnikov, clarified to UNIAN, these are forced security measures related to the attacks that the Russians are carrying out on cities and villages. He added that the local authorities are trying to prevent tragedies.

Earlier, military expert, instructor pilot, and retired colonel of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Roman Svitan said that Putin would refrain from ordering strikes on Ukrainian cities on Easter. But he warned that strikes should not be completely ruled out.
