Russian command hides real losses in Pokrovskoye direction, listing those killed as AWOL – “Atesh”

8 December 2025

In the Pokrovsky direction, the Russian command systematically hides real losses, registering the dead soldiers as SZCH (AWOL–OFP). This is evidenced by data from agents of the Atesh resistance movement, who work within the 30th separate motorized rifle brigade of the Russian Federation.

The information was published by the agent network – “Atesh” . The Telegram channel publishes data from Russian units in the occupied territories.

According to the source, after large-scale losses, brigade commanders deliberately register the killed servicemen as those who “left the unit without permission.” This helps to hide the real number of dead and avoid official notifications to families. The unit has already formed separate lists, where hundreds of soldiers are entered, effectively recording them as missing in action, although they died in battle or disappeared during assaults.

Agents of “Ates” note that this practice is applied both to soldiers who died during unsuccessful actions, and to those who were eliminated by the detachments. Over the past year, the number of fictitious SZCH has increased sharply, in terms of the volume of such decommissioned fighters “a separate brigade can be created”. Within the units this leads to increased fear, distrust of the command and a further decline in morale.

As OBOZ.UA reported, the Atesh movement has previously repeatedly exposed the losses of Russian military units on various fronts. In particular, it was about cases when the command reported the dead as “missing” or “deserters” in order to avoid official checks and payments to families. It was also reported about the use of barricades, which suppress the resistance of personnel and force them to participate in assaults.
