Russian city left without heating: thermal power plant exploded, 18 injured

Nine victims of the explosion at the thermal power plant in Shagonar are in moderate condition.

In the Russian city of Shagonar (Republic of Tuva, also called Tyva), an explosion occurred at a thermal power plant, at that moment 21 people took over their shift.

As a result of the explosion, 18 people were hospitalized, nine are in moderate condition, and the condition of six victims is serious, the head of Tuva Vladislav Khovalyg wrote in Telegram. According to the official, three more people are being sought.

Local authorities also reported that “due to emergency circumstances” the central heating in Shagonar was turned off. “All four boilers at the Shagonarskaya CHPP were not damaged and are in working order… The fire was localized to an area of ​​50 sq. m,” the republican government claims.

The Minister of Education of the Republic of Tuva, Elena Hardikova, wrote in her messenger channel that in Shagonar on Wednesday, March 6, classes in all educational organizations were canceled.

According to Mash Siberia in Telegram, an explosion in Tuva today occurred in the central boiler room in the premises of UK TEK 4 – this is the company that is involved in the maintenance of this facility. The cause of the serious incident is not yet known.
