Russian authorities have acknowledged that “the difficult operational situation remains” in the border areas.

 A state of emergency has been declared in the Kursk region of the Russian Federation since August 7, said the acting governor of the region, Alexey Smirnov.

According to him, the regime was introduced to “eliminate the consequences of enemy forces entering the region’s territory”; a difficult operational situation remains in the border areas.
