Russia was saved from technological collapse by the import of household appliances, which are being turned into weapons.

Russian weapons, in particular missiles , have worse technical characteristics than Russian propaganda tells us. In addition, it often uses components removed from household appliances. The director of the Kiev Scientific Research Institute of Forensic Expertise, Alexander Ruvin, spoke about this in an interview with “Evening Kiev” .
So, talking about the Iskander missiles that the Russians are firing at Ukraine, Ruvin noted that they have worse accuracy than the Russians say. And the Kinzhal missile, which is simply a modification of the Iskander, does not have the speed of Mach 10 (12,240 km/h) declared by the Russians.
Despite this, the Russians are trying to modernize and improve their weapons in accordance with the realities of the ongoing war. But they are noticeably hampered by technological sanctions imposed by Western countries.
According to Ruvin, guidance systems designed for Orlan-10 reconnaissance drones have begun to appear on Russian missiles. These systems are produced by Russia itself, but still from foreign electronic components. And not only Chinese, but also Western.
“We see that some circuits are soldered by hand and even use parts from household electrical appliances. Thus, in guided aerial bombs – KABs, the mechanism that directly opens the wings in the projectile is taken from a French fan for home and office, which is freely sold for $13,” – explains the expert.
Weapons with which Russia fights
As UNIAN wrote, parts from the United States and Europe were found in the North Korean missiles that the Russians are firing at Ukraine . Moreover, we are talking about components that were manufactured between 2021 and 2023. Based on these production dates, experts say the rocket “could not have been assembled before March 2023.”
We also told you that during the attack on Rabotino, Zaporozhye region, the Russians used unmodernized 70-year-old T-55 tanks . As a result, the 42nd Motorized Rifle Division crashed while trying to cross the flat terrain and reach positions held by the 65th Mechanized Brigade of the Ukrainian Army.

A fan part costing 13 dollars as part of a cruise missile! In a US weapon, the very same part, but of much (unnecessarily) higher quality and tighter tolerances, would probably cost hundreds of dollars (in a German construction, only slightly cheaper). And that’s a problem. When it comes to wartime production, numbers are king and it’s useless to build weapons lasting decades that will be launched next month anyway. For the cost of one US missile, Russia will build several ones, and that disadvantage needs to be corrected. To streamline production and reduce unnecessary costs is an easy way to increase the quantity of deliveries. Enough already with “state of the art”, let’s settle for “good enough”. That’s how WWII was won, too!
Interesting thoughts about how to explout this growing rift between Russian war propagandists here:
