A large group of Russian soldiers gathered in a military area, with some resting and others preparing for movement, surrounded by military vehicles.

Russian military observer and propagandist Viktor Baranets publicly confirmed the retreat of Russian troops on certain sections of the front in Ukraine. According to him, in some areas, they have retreated several kilometers. Such comments from the propagandist were unprecedented. Baranets voiced information about the failures of the Russian Armed Forces at the very time when Kremlin dictator Vladimir Putin lied about the occupiers’ record territorial gains in Ukraine. Baranets called on Russian military personnel and officials to stop reporting fictitious successes to their superiors in order to gain new ranks and positions. He claims that in some areas, Russian units have retreated by 3-6 kilometers. He added that the Russian army is also suffering significant losses due to numerous Ukrainian drone strikes. Recently, casualties in killed and seriously wounded can reach around 2,000 people per day.

In addition, the Ukrainian Armed Forces managed to break through the defenses on one of the front lines and reach the border with the Russian Federation.
During a counteroffensive, Ukrainian Defense Forces broke through the frontline near Vovchansk Khutory in the Kharkiv region and reached the Russian border. The US ARMY POWER project reported this on its social media account. In the Kharkiv region, the Ukrainian Armed Forces are said to have launched a swift counteroffensive near Vovchanskie Khutory. Ukrainian forces broke through the Russian occupiers’ positions and, for the first time in this section of the front, reached the Ukrainian-Russian border. US ARMY POWER reports that the Ukrainian Armed Forces continue their offensive in the northern Kharkiv region. The Ukrainian army is advancing to seal the border. At the time of writing, there was no official confirmation of a Ukrainian Armed Forces breakthrough near Vovchansk Khutory toward the state border. According to the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, yesterday, October 5, Russian occupiers attacked Ukrainian Armed Forces positions four times in the Yuzhno-Slobozhanska direction, which includes Vovchansk Khutory. Ukrainian forces repelled all attacks. The occupiers attempted to advance toward Izbitske, Ternova, and Lyman.
