Drones targeted the Khanskaya military airfield in Russia’s Republic of Adygea overnight on October 4, with open-source footage showing a fire in the area of the facility.

According to the OSINT project Exilenova+ on October 4, residents of nearby Maykop reported explosions and a fire near the Khanskaya airfield as drones continued operating over the region during the night.

Footage published by Exilenova+ showed a drone flying toward the airfield, while separate images from the area appeared to show a fire near the facility.

The Khanskaya airfield is located about six kilometers northwest of Maykop and roughly three kilometers east of the settlement of Khanskaya.

Reports of drone activity in the region began during the night and continued into the early morning, while Russian monitoring channels reported air defense activity in and around Adygea.

Khanskaya is used by Russian military aviation and is located roughly 500 kilometers from Ukrainian-controlled territory. The airfield has historically hosted Russian training aviation units and remains associated with the Krasnodar Higher Military Aviation School for Pilots.

Earlier, Ukrainian forces struck a Russian Su-24 combat aircraft at the Saky airfield in temporarily occupied Crimea on September 15–16, as part of a broader operation targeting Russian military infrastructure across occupied Ukrainian territories.
