The Hungarian Prime Minister is confident that Kyiv will never become part of the EU and NATO.
Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban has said Russia’s leadership is “hyper-rational” and that Ukraine will never be able to realize its hopes of joining the European Union or NATO.
CNN writes that Orban predicted a shift in global power from the “irrational” West toward Asia and Russia.
“In the coming decades, and perhaps centuries, Asia will become the dominant center of the world,” the Hungarian prime minister said.
At the same time, he named China, India, Pakistan and Indonesia as the future major powers of the world.
“And we, Westerners, also pushed the Russians into this bloc,” the politician said.
He also believes that, in contrast to the West’s “weakness,” Russia’s position in world affairs is rational and predictable, noting that the country has shown economic flexibility in adapting to Western sanctions after the 2014 invasion of Crimea.
The Hungarian prime minister also said that Russia has gained influence in many parts of the world by suppressing LGBTQ+ rights.
“The strongest international appeal of Russia’s soft power is its opposition to LGBT people,” he said.
In addition, Orban is confident that Ukraine will never become a member of the EU or NATO, because “the Europeans do not have enough money for this.”
“The EU must abandon its identity as a political project and become an economic and defense project,” the politician said.
