The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine has promised harsh retaliation for the Russian army’s missile strike on Sumy on Palm Sunday, April 13, which killed at least 34 civilians and injured 117 others. The Ukrainian military is preparing a decisive response, stating that the enemy will be responsible for every dead Ukrainian.
At the same time, Russian war crimes have no statute of limitations, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine emphasized . The criminals must face the punishment they deserve.
The Russians deliberately chose a symbolic day – a major Christian holiday, Palm Sunday – to commit another crime against humanity. The enemy is fighting against civilians because it cannot achieve success on the front.
“Having failed to achieve strategic successes on the battlefield, the enemy is once again resorting to its usual tactics – fighting against the civilian population, grossly violating international law, the laws and customs of war,” the report says.
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine added that the occupying country has once again shown that it does not want peace, and its real goal is to sow fear and panic. The military promised that the enemy “will receive only our fury and inevitable retribution.”
“Our response will be tough. We will destroy the occupiers, their military facilities, weapons and equipment – wherever they are,” the statement said.
As OBOZ.UA reported, only two minutes after the air alert about the ballistic threat was announced, two Russian missiles flew over the center of Sumy . One of them – the one that arrived second – was loaded with fragmentation elements and exploded in the air.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy responded to the terrorist country’s horrific attack on the city of Sumy, calling Russian terrorists “scoundrels .” He appealed to the US, Europe, and the world to pressure Russia and strengthen Ukraine’s defense.
