The Russian Federation, after the end of the war, will pay indemnities and reparations to Ukraine for decades.
Oleg Ustenko, Advisor to the President of Ukraine, stated this during the All-Ukrainian Telethon.
“It is clear that the seized funds that Russia has may not be enough for our full restoration. Plus, there will be additional lawsuits against the Russian Federation. Here, indemnities and reparations come into force, which, according to the decision of the International Court of Justice, Russia will be paid, but this will take place in over a long period of time. Why a long period of time? Because the Russian economy is unlikely to come out of this crisis that it is in for several decades. There is a question of how this will happen. But if you remember post-war Germany, after World War II, they also paid reparations and indemnities for several decades,” he said.
He also added that Russia will receive more than one lawsuit from Ukraine to the court for compensation for material damage.
“They must fully cover not only those losses that exist in terms of material damage. There are additional losses, and we expect billions of dollars in lawsuits against the Russian Federation from individual entrepreneurs who will be formed into one large pool, and from our population,” – he said.
Recall that domestic and foreign experts have already begun developing a plan for the restoration of Ukraine, which will begin to be implemented immediately after the end of the war.
