Members of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe decided to exclude the Russian Federation, which had previously decided to leave the organization on its own . Nobody voted against.

This is reported by the European Truth .

It is noted that 216 voted for the expulsion of Russia, but three abstained. It is indicated that before the vote, the Russian side submitted an application to Strasbourg for an independent withdrawal.

“But this does not stop our plans, does not interrupt the procedure,” said the President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe.READ ALSO:

The PACE decision states that Russia is recommended to terminate its membership in the Council of Europe due to the incompatibility of its actions with the principles of the organization. At the same time, PACE asks to quickly consider claims against Russia in the ECHR.

At the same time, PACE intends to support non-state institutions that oppose Putin’s dictatorship. The decision will instruct the Council of Europe “to support and interact with human rights activists, democratic forces, free media and an independent civil society in Russia.”

At the same time, other members of the Council of Europe will provide funding. It is also proposed to “strengthen support for the states of the Council of Europe that have received a large number of Ukrainian refugees.”

  1. It’s about time. Want to guess the three countries that abstained…my guess…Hungary, Germany and France. Maybe Italy.

  2. Mafia land should have been out since 2014. Allowing a crime syndicate to be a member makes such organizations preposterous.
