The Russian Federation wants to deploy 10,000 of its soldiers to the territory
of occupied Transnistria (Moldova). To do this, it needs power in the country to pass to pro-Kremlin politicians.
Moldovan Prime Minister Dorin Recan told the Financial Times, citing intelligence, that Moscow was interfering in the parliamentary elections scheduled for September 2025.
The aggressor state’s campaign includes online propaganda and illegal money transfers to parties and voters. For example, in 2024, Moscow spent the equivalent of 1% of Moldova’s GDP on such operations.
“This is a huge effort to undermine Moldovan democracy,” the prime minister noted.
He said that the Russian military presence in Transnistria is now “almost meaningless.” It is estimated that there are about 1,500 soldiers there under the Russian flag.
“But with a higher military presence in Transnistria, which the pro-Russian government can afford, they can consolidate… You can imagine the impact and pressure that 10,000 soldiers will have on the southwestern part of Ukraine. But it’s also close to Romania, which is a NATO member state,” Recan pointed out.
“We are very careful because their (Russians. – Ed.) propaganda, their communication mechanisms are very strong. They spend a lot of money,” he added.
The Prime Minister believes that Moldova should strengthen its defense.
“But we also have to fulfill our agenda,” Recan said, referring to Moldova’s goal of becoming a member of the European Union.

As OBOZ.UA previously wrote:
– Moldova is terminating a 1998 agreement with Russia on the creation and operation of cultural centers and is launching the process of closing the “Russian House” in Chisinau . The country’s government explained that the agreement could be used by the Kremlin to spread disinformation and promote distorted narratives.
– In June, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Moldova urged its citizens to refrain from traveling to the Russian Federation . The reason was cited as “the worsening security situation in the region.”

I don’t think such a scenario worries the Ukrainians, even if there should be double that number of cockroaches. And, any aggression towards Ukraine would give the country the right to invade Transnistria and even all of Moldova. Ukraine should take Transnistria anyway.
Having said that, it is beyond high time for democracies to get better prepared to counter mafia propaganda. They have been far too weak in this regard … as with many other ways, too. A good start is to refuse legitimacy to any pro-ruskie candidates or parties.
A better solution would be for Ukraine to liberate the place.
And how do they plan to do that? Teleport them?
Once they get their useful idiot into the government, he or she will open the doors for the filth to enter.
