Russia has been widely infiltrating Orthodox church in the U.S. to recruit intelligence sources, which has been confirmed by an FBI probe.
That’s according to CNN’s Erin Burnett, Ukrinform reports.
Potential sources across nearly 2,300 parishes in the United States could be “coerced to participated in intelligence operations via blackmail,” the FBI report says.
According to Russia’s independent journalist Andrei Soldatov, who joined CNN to comment on the issue, the most important part of this story is that the Russian Orthodox Church is “apparently quite happy with being used” by Russian intelligence and security agencies “not only by providing ideological ammunition for the war” but also by direct cooperation, according to a church memorandum drawn up back in 2009, which laid down rules of cooperation with the Russian security bloc.
The document allows for “helping and providing operational support” in intelligence efforts, Soldatov claims.
The Orthodox Church’s presence across the U.S. is growing, the journalist notes, largely due to its appeal to “traditional family values” that many Americans seek to relate to so some Protestants are converting.
As Ukrinform reported earlier, the Russian Orthodox Church has been widely supporting the Russian invasion of Ukraine, calling on parishioners to join the army and go fight against Ukraine and justifying the war.

What is it with churches opening up to the filthiest, most criminal and evil entity on this planet? Are they so hungry for money, having to sell themselves like cheap street whores?
I haven’t seen this. What I have seen are people moving away from Russian Orthodox churches and going to Ukrainian Orthodox or other denominations. I’ve seen it in my own family who were members of Russian Orthodoxy leaving and going full throttle Ukrainian. Also I’ve noticed where Russian symbols such as flags, etc are no longer around. Prior to this war I saw Russian symbols all over the place, now, they’re gone and I don’t hear too many people being proud to be Russian or even acknowledging that they’re Russian. In fact I don’t see any.
Are you talking about your hometown, Sir Cap?
Things really have changed in Ukraine, in this regard. The most difficult thing to do is change the language that you grew up with. Russian was very much a part of Ukraine as Ukrainian. In many places more so. But, despite the hurdles, this also has changed. The use of Ukrainian has exploded since this war got started. No pun intended. Russian flags or other ruskie symbols? That would be a very big mistake for someone to display nowadays. Mafia land is a deeply hated place. If anyone still has pro-ruskie feelings, they keep it a deep secret.
I remember when we first arrived in Holland, and had to register ourselves with the authorities. There were interpreters at this registration place, and one of them started to talk to my wife in russian. The look on this woman’s face when my wife said I don’t speak russian anymore, you need to communicate in Ukrainian. Of course my wife was winding her up, as she can speak fluent russian and English, but I thought it was rather insensitive of the Dutch authorities to have an interpreter that only understood russian and not the Ukrainian language.
Indeed, that was stupid and disgracious.
Two thumbs up for your wife Sir Foccusser!
I was born in the states after my parents came over from Western Ukraine following WW2. Some of my family in the states joined the Russian Orthodox church (I was brought up Ukrainian Catholic). They have since joined the Ukrainian Orthodox church. I can say wherever I go whether especially in Miami or Brooklyn, Chicago, Russian signs and symbols are no where to be seen. Prior to the war the place was filled with the crap. No one is standing up and saying I’m a proud Russian but I have seen even non Ukrainians stand up saying “I’ve got Ukrainian blood”. This of course does not include the scum suckers like Trump et al. That said I almost got into a fight with a “trumpian” asshole who called Ukrainians Nazis. That didn’t sit well with me and I think that individual is now careful to whom he opens his mouth.
Nice! That’s very good to know. It’s like the cockroaches have scurried into their dark holes and crevices in shame.
I’m glad that you stood up to that asshole!
I’m a New York Ukrainian. Early on I learned take no shit from a Russian. IMO New York Ukrainian diaspora are more Ukrainian then some Ukrainians in Ukraine. Proud to be counted as one of them.
I salute you, Sir Cap!
I wonder. Is there a space, a social, moral or spiritual dimension they are able to respect, even a little? Is there a place or thing that they are capable of not polluting with their filthy ideologies?
Orcs rot everything they touch. They even seep between the baseboard and the wall.
It will take millions of gallons of Holy water, positive thoughts, brotherly spirit and… lots of TNT to clean up all this filth that has spread everywhere. Even in the baptismal font!
Putinismus ante mortem. Amen.
I can think of one place… hell!
