Russia Threatens That Armenia Could Become ‘Next Ukraine’

Putinists did not like Pashinyan’s speech in the European Parliament.

18.10.2023

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s speech in the European Parliament on October 17 suggests that he is “following the path” of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, a high-ranking source in Moscow told TASS.

He described Pashinyan’s statements as “irresponsible and provocative, especially as they relate to Russia and Russian-Armenian relations.” “We see how they are trying to turn Armenia into Ukraine #3, if we consider Moldova as Ukraine #2,” the agency’s interlocutor noted.

Speaking at the European Parliament, Pashinyan emphasized that more than 100 thousand Armenians left Nagorno-Karabakh “in the conditions of inaction of Russian peacekeepers.” He also accused “security allies” of taking advantage of the moment and “not only not helping,” but also publicly calling for the overthrow of the government in Armenia.

Pashinyan pointed out that such situations “have been repeated several times since 2020” and occurred according to one scenario: “external aggression, inaction of Armenia’s allies in the security sphere, attempts to undermine the country’s sovereignty using hybrid technologies directed by external forces.”

Since the autumn of 2022, the Armenian authorities have regularly accused Russia and the CSTO — a pro-Kremlin military bloc created from loyal republics of the former USSR — of inaction and lack of response to requests for help.

Relations between Yerevan and Moscow deteriorated further after Azerbaijan’s military operation in September 2023, which ended with the capitulation of Nagorno-Karabakh and the exodus of 100 thousand Armenians from the region. Then Pashinyan accused Russia of an attack on the country’s independence, and also spoke about the ineffectiveness of the CSTO and “serious questions” for Russian peacekeepers, who did not in any way interfere with the actions of Baku, despite the fact that preventing military conflicts is their direct responsibility. At the same time, Pashinyan emphasized that “Armenia has never betrayed its allies.”

In response to the reproaches, the Kremlin stated that Azerbaijan de jure conducted the operation on its territory. Foreign Ministry representative Maria Zakharova recalled the latest actions of the Armenian leadership, which allegedly “created fertile ground for the hostile policy of the West” towards Russia.

Prior to this, the diplomatic department made a “hard representation” to the Ambassador of the Republic Vagharshak Harutyunyan in connection with Yerevan’s series of “unfriendly steps.” The Foreign Ministry considered as such the launch of the process of ratification of the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court, military exercises with the United States, as well as a trip to Kyiv by Pashinyan’s wife Anna Hakobyan with humanitarian aid for Ukrainians.

In early October, the Armenian parliament ratified the Rome Statute. Thus, the republic has joined 123 countries of the world that will be obliged to arrest Vladimir Putin under an ICC warrant if he arrives on their territory.

  1. So, the shithole called mafia land would be willing to bring all the horrors to Armenia – killing, murdering, raping, looting, torturing, and destroying – that it brought to Ukraine, just because of a speech. Think about it long and hard, who is supporting russia directly and indirectly.
But, this would mean that mafia land would also suffer lots of slaughtered meat puppets and suffer massive numbers of destroyed mafia equipment and so on, if the path for Armenia was to be the same as Ukraine. Right?

    • The dreadful thing is that if putler decides to occupy Armenia, he’d have to come through Georgia: two land grabs for the price of one.
And guess what; who has a plan in place to deter this? That’s right; fucking no one.
It would be a repeat of 1920, when the Red Army moved in to destroy Georgia’s fledgling democracy. The British had briefly occupied part of it; Adjara, after they kicked out the Ottoman Turks. As soon as they left, that was that for the next 70 years.

      • The problem is that the West has viewed the region as mafia land’s own backyard, and this for much too long.

  2. As Brian Whitmore says, Georgia is under a terrible threat : if putler wins in Ukraine; God forbid, he takes Georgia. If he loses, he might take Georgia as a consolation prize.
Armenia has just put itself in the same grave danger.
Moldova is in a slightly safer position, since it could not be taken without first taking Ukraine.

Mikhail Saakashvili has written to Pashiniani. The following is an imperfect translation from Georgian:

My address to Nikol Pashiniani, Prime Minister of Armenia.
I will address you for the first time and I do it publicly, because I am very concerned about the fate of our region and Armenia. Based on the experience of my relationship with Russia and Putin (who at the recent DST summit practically accused me of disbanding this organization), I allow myself to give you some advice.
You came to power as a result of public speeches, which in Putin’s terminology is “color revolution”. So, trust me, no matter how hard you try to gain Putin’s favor, no matter how much you swear allegiance, he will never forgive you. Especially – following your recent statements, political moves and especially the ratification of the Rome Statute. He is your bloody enemy and will try to attack you by every means he can: domestic violence, fomenting military actions. He will start submerging you economically and use his entire arsenal of hybrid warfare.
You have to remember that you have very little time. Since you came to power, you couldn’t or failed to implement fundamental reforms and therefore your current state apparatus actually serves as the fifth column of the Kremlin. You delayed the process of eurointegration.
However difficult it may be for you, the developments around Armenia are giving our region a new chance. After a while we could live like the three Baltic countries – with open borders, create a whole system of logistic, financial, energy hubs, use the advantages of each of our three countries. But to achieve this you need to hurry up and forget any shaking, you need to go to wa-bank. You must demand the withdrawal of Russian military base, leave the DST, the OCD, the customs union and apply for EU membership and NATO.
In 2013 I landed in Yerevan with the chairman of the European Commission, Barrozo. We tried without results to convince your predecessor not to join any organization created by Moscow.
Finally, you should openly declare and urgently sign the peace treaty with Azerbaijan and in this step open the way for fundamental changes in Armenia’s internal and foreign policy.
You have no lack of personal courage and political courage, and so I hope you won’t let Putin personally destroy you, destroy your country and eventually blow up our region. The danger that is facing all of us is very real and requires immediate action. I hope you will not delay and act this time.
I wish you success and the Armenian people.
    M. Saakashvili

    ……….

I am extremely concerned about Georgia, since she has no foul weather friends. Same with Armenia.
One difference: Georgians hate putler and hate Russia, but are saddled with a rotten putinoid ruling regime that runs sham elections.
Armenians quite like Russia; many still have a Soviet mindset. But their democratic government is doing its best to alter this, with some success.

    • Many more countries than just Georgia and Armenia are threatened if mafia land wins. It’s hard to predict what exactly will happen, but it will be quite ugly.

      • Zakharova has clearly threatened that Tbilisi will be bombed if there is another colour revolution. I absolutely believe the evil skank.
Then occupier scum will roll in from Abkhazia and “South Ossetia” and we can be certain that no one will help to push them back. Ditto with Armenia, which has a Russian base in its interior.
As for an attack on the Balts; it couldn’t be ruled out. Who would want to rely on a future Trumpkov administration coming to the rescue?

        • “As for an attack on the Balts; it couldn’t be ruled out. Who would want to rely on a future Trumpkov administration coming to the rescue?”

The orange baboon would call it a brilliant move.

  3. I thinks it’s easy for someone like me to provide commentary sitting on his butt without being directly involved but I honestly feel that if Georgia, Armenia and others move militarily to get away from Russia at this point, would be historic and I think successful. Russia can’t open another front while they’re engaged with Ukraine giving these countries a wonderful opportunity and by their actions would help Ukraine. I apologize if I’m pissing anyone off but honestly, stop whining and get it done.

    • I fully agree with you, Sir Cap. Last year already I wrote that I wonder why no one is breaking free from mafia land after it became obvious that the roach army could do little to prevent this. To this day, not a single dick far and wide rose up to get things done.
