Washington OKs Poland to make PAC-3 interceptors
Poland won preliminary approval from the U.S. State Department to produce PAC-3 interceptors for Patriot air-defense systems on Polish soil, Poland’s Deputy Defense Minister Cezary Tomczyk said on May 26.
“After our visit to the United States, I think the matter is open: we have received preliminary approval from the State Department to produce missiles for Patriot systems. They could be made by the Polish defense industry,” Tomczyk told local broadcaster TVN24.
Tomczyk said the talks also covered possible joint production of ammunition for HIMARS rocket artillery and Hellfire missiles.
Poland has been expanding service and production capabilities for U.S. equipment, including the F-35, Apache, HIMARS, and Patriot, and aims to make its service centers a maintenance hub for U.S. military equipment in Europe.
“The American side has shown significant interest,” Tomczyk said.
On May 14, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth unexpectedly canceled the planned movement of 4,000 troops to Poland, surprising European allies and some Pentagon staff. The Wall Street Journal reported that President Donald Trump was unhappy with that decision. On May 21, Trump announced he would send an additional 5,000 troops to Poland.

If Ukraine were smart, which it is, it would have disassembled one Patriot missile to study it and reverse engineer it.
Though a few months away, I have a high degree of confidence that Ukraine will produce a similar option.
