Andrii Illenko, an officer of the “Svoboda” battalion of NSU, said that Russia threw all combat-capable units of its army into the Bakhmut direction .

On the air of the “Espresso” TV channel, he added that the occupiers are suffering significant losses at the front.

“The Russians have suffered too many defeats in recent months. They lost the battle in Kharkiv region, Kherson region. They need at least some kind of rehabilitation, they need revenge. At least somewhere they have to show that they can advance. Bakhmut was chosen by the invaders precisely for these reasons. All combat-ready parts of the army “The Russian Federation is now thrown at Bakhmut. There are many battles, shelling, assaults, but the Ukrainian defense is strong. We are pouring the enemy, the enemy will suffer heavy losses,” Illenko emphasized.  

According to the officer, the Armed Forces of Ukraine are firmly holding the defense in the Bakhmut direction, but it is difficult, tiring and hellish work.

“The Ukrainian fortress of Bakhmut is standing strong, there is no threat from the surrounding area. This battle has been going on for several months, and the last weeks are the culmination of this battle,” he concluded.

The situation in the Bakhmut direction

Analysts of the Institute for the Study of War  stated that the invaders are advancing towards Bakhmut. At the same time, the Russians are on the offensive in the Avdiyivka-Donetsk area, but are on the defensive on the Svatove-Kreminna line.

The commander of the “Freedom” battalion, Major of the National Guard Petro Kuzyk said that in the direction of Bakhmut , one and a half villages away, the Russian occupiers “placed” a couple of thousand soldiers .
