In Russia, they said that they completely rule out the option of demilitarizing the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant .

This statement was made by the deputy head of the Russian delegation at a meeting of the first committee of the UN General Assembly Konstantin Vorontsov, Russian media write.

“We completely rule out the so-called demilitarization of the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant and the perimeter around it, which will lead to a decrease in the degree of its protection and an increase in the threat of terrorist acts, as well as the creation of conditions for a counteroffensive by the Armed Forces of Ukraine,” Vorontsov said at a meeting at the UN.

According to him, units of the Russian Guard will continue to guard the Zaporozhye NPP.

Situation at ZNPP

As UNIAN reported earlier, on March 4, Russian invaders seized the ZNPP and the satellite town of Energodar. Since then, Russian troops have periodically shelled the nuclear plant and the area around it.

In early September, an IAEA mission visited the Zaporozhye NPP. Its experts remained at the station .

IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi proposed to the UN Security Council  to create a security and protection zone at the ZNPP .

In early October, Russian dictator Putin issued a “decree”  appropriating the occupied Zaporozhye nuclear power plant .

According to the Center for National Resistance, part of the ZAES controls the bandit formation of the head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, the Akhmat special rapid reaction unit.
