These attacks led to further destabilization of the region.

Russia has been providing Yemen’s Houthis with targeting satellite data to guide missiles and drones at ships in the Red Sea, the “main artery of global trade.”

As The Wall Street Journal reports , attacks on ships, including commercial ones, in this area of the Middle East by Houthi militants in Yemen have been ongoing since late last year. This has led to further destabilization of the region.

“The Houthis, who began their attacks late last year over the war in Gaza, eventually began using Russian satellite data as they stepped up their strikes,” said two European defense officials and a person familiar with the matter.

The publication noted that Russia transmitted information to Yemeni Houthi militants through members of the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.

One of the sources specified that these members of Iran’s IRGC “were included in the Houthis in Yemen.”

Houthi attacks at sea and the world’s reaction

Earlier, UNIAN reported that Yemeni Houthis attacked two tankers in the Red Sea, one of which was heading from Russia to China. The vessel was attacked using watercraft and a ballistic missile.

Journalists also claimed that Russia was preparing to supply missiles and other military equipment to the Houthi rebels in Yemen, but ultimately abandoned this amid behind-the-scenes efforts by the US and Saudi Arabia.

In August, The Telegraph noted that US efforts to curb the Houthis in the Red Sea had failed

However, on October 17, it was reported that US B-2 stealth bombers had struck weapons storage facilities linked to Houthi rebels in Yemen.
