Russia once again attacked Ukrainian ports: fires broke out, foreign ships were damaged

As a result of the strikes, elevators and warehouses of civilian enterprises were damaged.

On the night of December 26, the Russian army massively attacked Ukraine’s energy and port infrastructure – several ships, including foreign ones, were damaged, and fires broke out at the sites of the hits.

As reported by the head of the Odessa OVA, Oleg Kiper, the enemy again attacked the Odessa region with strike drones. The Izmail and Odessa districts of the region, as well as Odessa, were under attack.

According to Kiper, the air strikes caused new damage to energy and port infrastructure facilities. Fires broke out, administrative buildings, equipment, and machinery were damaged. According to the official, there was no information about the dead or injured.

He added that rescue and emergency services continue to work on the ground, eliminating the consequences of another Russian strike on the Odessa region.

Head of the Odessa MVA Serhiy Lysak noted that damage to an infrastructure facility was recorded in the regional center – a fire occurred as a result of a UAV hit. An examination of the surrounding area for damage to civilian infrastructure and residential buildings is ongoing. Read also:

In turn, Deputy Prime Minister for Reconstruction, Minister of Community and Territorial Development of Ukraine Oleksiy Kuleba explained that the Russian Federation continues its attempts to destroy the logistics of Ukraine’s sea ports and is trying to undermine the economy and food security.

“The ports of the Odessa region were subjected to continuous enemy strikes all night. As a result of drone strikes, elevators, warehouses of civilian enterprises, a barge, and ships under the flags of Slovakia and the Republic of Palau were damaged. Rescuers are extinguishing fires at the sites of the strikes. Port workers are continuing to inspect the damage,” Kuleba emphasized.

In part, according to him, there are power outages, repair crews are working on restoring them. Also, as the minister added, a terminal in the Mykolaiv region was hit by Russian drones. A ship under the flag of Liberia was damaged.

Attacks on the ports of the Odessa region

The Russian army is carrying out massive strikes on seaports and industrial facilities in the Odessa region. In particular, the day before, on December 25, a civilian, a 57-year-old man, was killed in an attack, and four more civilians were injured. As a result of UAV strikes on port infrastructure facilities, the checkpoint building, an administrative building, and transport on the territory of one of the port terminals were damaged.

Earlier, the Russian Federation struck the port of Pivdennyi, damaging tanks with vegetable oil . As a result, the substance entered the sea. In particular, oily stains were found on the coast of Odessa, and the death of birds was recorded.
